Duties of database personnel (some examples)
Database administrators
Operational maintenance stage.
Monitor the daily operation of the database system.
Fine-tuning the system e.g. optimize query commands.
Control access rights of different user groups.
Database designers
Application and database design stage.
Create a database design including data type, table
structure etc. Create view for different user groups.
System analysts
Requirements collection and analysis stage.
Collect the requirements information from different users.
Design the conceptual database.
Database developers/programmers
Implementation stage.
Programmers write program codes based on “database and
application design”.
Data entry operators
Enter data into database for its operation.
